A Drowning Man

In 2008, Mr. Lian went to a village called Bungzung for a village’s sports competition event which was organized by university students’ fellowship. The sports event was from 12 to 15 December, 2008. In that sports event, people from many villages came and participated in the competition. The competitions were such as football, volleyball, literature, singing, debate, etc…. but the main aim and objective of the sports event was to build a good relationship and fellowship with each another. So that the villagers around might have a good relationship to each other.

On the last day of the event, the organizers and the villagers (the host) went to the river to enjoy and have fun themselves in the water at the village nearby. It is one of the cultures and procedure to end a special event happened in the village. The name of the river where they went was Rivaa. It is one of the biggest rivers around the village though it is not too big.

Unfortunately, Lian was drowning into the deep water while they were playing in the water. It carried him away in the deeper side of the river around fifteen feet and then he slowly sank in the deep water. At the same time, people didn't know that he wasn’t expert in swimming. He tried his level best to save himself but he couldn't do it so. May be the reason why he couldn't swim was that he was wearing a long pants and sweatshirt which absorbed a lot of water. So he slowly began to sink in the deep water and he stopped trying to save himself and decided to die. At that time, he couldn't think about anything else but one thing what he remembered was his Dad not Mom as he has no mom in this world anymore. He was thinking and worried that how his friends were going to tell his father when they returned home. And how much his father will be hurt and shocked to know that Lian hadn't returned from the village-Bungzung. At that exact movement, surprisingly and luckily, Mr. Chan Ling, a son of the village head, and his friend could save him from death. Since then people used to call him a drowning man. Or people used to make fun of him by calling a-new-Lian as people jokingly says the previous one has drowned into Bungzung’s River.

Lian may not be in this hostel if he died in that river. He is very thankful for having such a wonderful roommate and friends in this KMC Hostel. So friends enjoy your life and make use the best of your times in this hostel and university because you don’t know what will happen tomorrow. It doesn't matter what happened it the past; just don’t care you were a loser or winner at once or may be a drowning man like Lian in the past. But learnt from them and forget it all. So, don’t worry! You still have today! As Mother Teresa said, “Yesterday has gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. So let’s begin”.
So, friends, let’s begin from today!

Last but not the least I would like to end by writing a line quoted from somewhere; keep changing it the way you want or keep modifying it in the way you see fit.+++
